HST-registered organizer in Ontario
13% added on top, displayed on the buyer receipt, reconciled monthly via CSV.
Inclusive (Quebec) or added-on-top (Ontario) tax per event. Receipts go to every buyer automatically. Per-order snapshots mean a receipt issued today still makes sense in three years.
What hurts
Tax handling is the part of ticketing where most platforms either give up or charge extra for it. You end up calculating GST/HST/PST by hand in a spreadsheet, then reconciling against a settlement statement that doesn't match.
How Jamrats handles it
Configure tax per event: rate (e.g. 13% HST), label, and inclusive vs added-on-top. Every order is computed correctly at checkout and the buyer sees the line on their receipt.
We snapshot the tax config onto every order. If you change the rate for next year's event, the receipts from last year still reflect what was actually charged.
Buyer receipts go out automatically the moment the order is paid. They include line items, tax breakdown, your org name, and a link to re-download the tickets.
